Some iconic early 2000s films that can’t be beat

On Wednesdays, we wear pink. (Even though this blog is being released on a Friday oops :)

The early 2000s were a golden era for movies. It was a time of iconic teen comedies, unforgettable rom-coms, epic fantasy adventures, and action-packed blockbusters that still hold a special place in our hearts today. Whether it was the birth of major franchises, Y2K fashion taking over the big screen, or the rise of some of our favorite stars, this era gave us some of the most rewatchable movies ever.

Here are some of my all-time favorite early 2000s movies that still bring all the nostalgia!

🎬  Mean Girls (2004)

"On Wednesdays, we wear pink." Need I say more? Mean Girls is the ultimate teen comedy, packed with unforgettable one-liners, iconic characters (hello, Regina George), and the perfect mix of humor and heart. Written by Tina Fey and starring Lindsay Lohan, this movie defined a generation. And yes, we’re all still quoting it 20 years later.

🏰 The Princess Diaries (2001)

A nerdy teen finds out she’s actually royalty? Sign me up. The Princess Diaries was every girl’s dream movie in the early 2000s. Anne Hathaway’s transformation from awkward Mia Thermopolis to Princess of Genovia (with Julie Andrews as her grandmother!) was everything. Also, the makeover scene? Still iconic.

🏹 The Hunger Games (2012) - Honorable Mention

Okay, technically this came out in 2012, but it was based on a book from the 2000s, so it deserves a shoutout! This dystopian thriller starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen became a cultural phenomenon. Between the intense storyline, memorable characters, and the infamous three-finger salute, this one is still a must-watch. Did anyone else want to be a part of the Hunger Games? No, just me, ok.

👑  A Cinderella Story (2004)

Early 2000s Hilary Duff movies? A cultural reset. A Cinderella Story gave us the modern fairy tale we didn’t know we needed, complete with Chad Michael Murray, flip phones, and the most dramatic masquerade ball reveal. Plus, that iconic quote:

"Waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought—useless and disappointing." So Iconic.

🏎 The Fast and the Furious (2001)

Before the franchise became all about defying the laws of physics and the Rock, the first Fast and Furious movie was about actual street racing, crime, and undercover cop drama. With Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in their prime, this film set the tone for an action-packed saga that’s still going strong today, but they should’ve stopped after Fast 7. (RIP Paul Walker)

🤖 Transformers (2007)

Another movie that technically leans toward the late 2000s, but Transformers was a moment. With epic CGI, Michael Bay explosions, and let’s not forget how FINE Shia Labeouf was in this movie. This film revived a franchise and played an interesting take on giant robots that could talk.

Final Thoughts

The early 2000s gave us some of the best movies ever—ones we still rewatch, quote, and obsess over today. Whether it’s a teen comedy, a fantasy epic, or an action-packed thriller, these films shaped a whole era of pop culture.
